After surgery, swelling, bruising and a feeling of nasal congestion are expected in the early period — part of normal healing. A splint may support the new shape at first, and what you see when it is removed is not the final result.
Swelling and bruising are usually more noticeable. The splint is generally removed on the doctor’s plan. Limit activity, keep your head elevated and protect the nose.
Bruising usually fades and swelling becomes less visible. The face begins to look more natural, though the nasal tip may still feel firm or swollen.
The nose continues to refine. Swelling decreases slowly, especially around the bridge and upper nose; the tip usually takes longer to settle.
Final results take time. Tip definition and subtle refinement may continue for up to a year or longer, especially with thicker skin.
