Bichectomy — also known as buccal fat removal — reduces the buccal fat pads in the lower cheek area, which can create a rounder or fuller mid-lower face. In suitable patients, reducing this fat can reveal the cheekbone area more clearly and create a more defined contour, with a more balanced transition between the cheekbones, cheeks and jawline.
It isn’t a weight-loss procedure, and it isn’t suitable for every face — some people naturally have full cheeks at a stable weight. The most important point is patient selection: removing too much volume, or operating on a face that’s already thin, can create an aged, hollow or unnatural look over time.
Patient selection is everything — restraint protects against an aged or hollow result.
